Château Clinet is a small Pomerol property whose wines are compared to those of Pétrus, Lafleur and Le Pin. It occupies some of the oldest vineyards in Pomerol with earliest records going back to 1595. The chateau has leapt to prominence in the last 30 years and now produces one of the most sought-after wines in the region. The 11-hectare vineyard at 35m, is on top of one of the finest plateaux in Pomerol and is planted with Merlot (80%), Cabernet Sauvignon (10%) and Cabernet Franc (10%).
In 1985 when the services of cult oenologist, Michel Rolland were engaged, Chateau Clinet made the world sit up. Rolland introduced much later harvesting, ensuring super-ripe fruit, as well as extending the amount of time the wines spent in 100% new oak barriques. Within 5 years, Clinet's wine were receiving perfect scores by international wine critics, such as Robert Parker.
Today the estate is run by Ronan Laborde, who took over in 2003. He has pushed the quality of the estate to even greater heights and is making some of Pomerol’s most desirable wines. Under Ronan’s leadership the winery has taken a strong qualitative approach, with a long-term goal of improving the wine by replanting at a higher density in the vineyard and renovating the winery, completed in 2014. In 2019 Ronan Laborde became the president of the Union des Grand Crus of Bordeaux (UGCB).

An elegant, powerful and accomplished wine in 2015, with finely-knitted tannins and dark fruit which is pushed impercetibly upwards from start to finish by the grippy acidity. All the strands are held together, seemingly almost too measured until it has spent a few moments in the glass. Then, the flavours come alive and you have something really special, and long-lasting. A blend of 90% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 1% Cabernet Franc matured in 65% new and 35% one-year-old French oak for 16 months, the 2015 Clinet offers a medium to deep garnet-purple color and slowly, provocatively unfurls in the glass with notes of crushed black cherries, warm black raspberries and red cherry compote plus nuances of bay leaves, cinnamon stick, star anise, fenugreek and forest floor and wafts of potpourri and mocha. The palate reveals a sensuous medium-bodied style offset beautifully by very firm, very silky tannins and packed with energetic, multifaceted fruit as well as great tension, finishing long with an arresting spice and floral perfume. In some cases, we will be able to arrange delivery for the next day provided we are advised before 11.00am, however please give us as much notice as possible and note that during very busy periods, such as in the run-up to Christmas, special deadlines will apply.

International Delivery
For customers wishing to ship wines outside the UK we will arrange export paperwork and prepare wines to be collected by your freight forwarder of choice at an agreed date and time from LCB Burton Gateway. You will be responsible for the wines from the point at which they are collected by your forwarder.
If you would like us to arrange the export and onward delivery of your wines, please let us know and we will be happy to provide a quotation. We use a select number of trusted freight forwarders who specialise in moving fine and rare wines and can ship worldwide in temperature-controlled conditions if necessary and at competitive rates.

We offer in bond storage (remaining duty and tax free) of any fine wines purchased from us at our custom controlled warehouse at £18 per 9 litre case (12 bottles, 6 magnums, etc.) or £15 per 4.5 litre or less a case (6 bottles, 3 magnums to 1 bottle) per year, plus V.A.T. This includes insurance and will apply to wines that remain uncollected or undelivered 30 days after the date of the sale.
